Quote of the Day
At our meeting, we had the pleasure of having Melissa Cocuzza, who is the Membership Chair at the Southington Rotary Club come and speak to us about the ways in which they've gotten new members.
As I mentioned before, new members are the life line of our organization. This will be an ongoing discussion at our meetings and I'm hoping all of you will give some thought and come up with suggestions and ideas of how we can get more involved in the community and get new members through service projects.
Backpacks of Hope
If you recall in Melissa's presentation, she mentioned that on September 17, they will be holding an event, called Backpacks of Hope for children transitioning to a safe home environment.
Some of you expressed interest in participating in this event.
The event is on Thursday, September 17 from 6-7:30 PM
Location is the Southington Library at 255 Main St.
Pizza will be served
By attending this event, you'll not only help a great group of young people, but we can also pick up some ideas on how possibly our club can do something similar in Bristol.
If you are planning on going, please email Melissa so she knows how much pizza to order. Her email address is: melissa@ablexpos.com
Meals for Neighbors
Please mark your calendars for Monday, October 19 to go back to Zion.
We are looking for two volunteers to head up the October 19 dinner.
Congratulations!!!
As you all know, we've been looking for one of our members to step up to becoming a member of the Board of Directors for the Bristol Rotary club.
It is my pleasure to announce that Christine Campbell will be our newest Board member.
I know Christine is excited about this new position and is ready to dive in.
Get to know our Rotarians.
It's great to have breakfast with everybody once a week, but it's even more meaningful when we know something about each and every one of us.
I think it'll be a great exercise in brotherhood.
So far, we have heard from Maria and Cassandra. We appreciate them, sharing some of their past experiences.
On Tuesday, Tuesday October 6, we are hoping to hear from Dale Clift.
I hope you plan to attend.
Should be very interesting.
This is an interesting read
There should be a very interesting event.
Are you doing your part?
As you know, the Mum A Thon race is only a handful of weeks away, and we desperately need to get giveaways from our local businesses. Those giveaways could be in the form of gift cards, pens, etc.
Some of our businesses always have promotional material that they're willing to give away. But it means us going to these businesses and talking about the Mum A Thon race and letting them know we're going to have over 400 people that they will be exposed to, in one afternoon.
This can't be done by two or three people, but it can be successfully done by all of our club members participating in this. Time is running short. Please reach back to Mary to let her know what you're able to gather so we know what to put in the bags for the runners?
This Mum A Thon flyer has a UPC code that will take you to our registration page. If you can make copies of this page and put it out in businesses that you know would be a great help. Time is starting to run short and we really need to start to promote.
